The next International Numismatic Congress will take place in Taormina in 2015 September 21-25. Here you find informations about the Congress:

Maria Caltabiano opened the works: relations were presented by Ermanno Arslan and Giovanni Gorini (who both in the past were Vice-Presidents of the CIN), Silvana Balbi De Caro, Adriano Savio and Sara Sorda (directors respectively of "Bollettino di Numismatica", "Rivista Italiana di Numismatica", "Annali dell´Istituto di Numismatica"). The relations were followed by a vivacious debate. The Assembly discussed the opportunity of constituting the Italian Numismatists Council to defend the identity and the role of the scholars within the University courses, and to raise people awareness concerning the importance of the coin as historical document. Lastly, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy (1861-2011) M. Caltabiano proposed that exhibitions, workshops and conferences organized by Italian Numismatists go under the same lable "Money and Unification of Italy", thus becoming part of a common and unique program. The logo of a winged triskelés for the XVth International Numismatic Congress Messina/Taormina 2015 was inspired by a bronze coin of Syracuse under the Agathocles´government (at the end of the IV century BC) and was graphically realized by the designer Cecilia Caccamo. Even if it reminds of the Sicilian Trinacria, the aim of Maria Caltabiano, Chair of the scientific Committee, is that the image of the three legs might suggest a dynamic movement towards the acknowledgement of the coin as a witness of historical events and cultural landscapes. On the 11th of February 2011, the first meeting was held at the "Istituto Italiana di Numismatica" in Rome. The aim was to discuss how to promote Italian Numismatic research and also to plan a number of initiatives in view of the XVth International Numismatic Congress Messina/Taormina 2015.
